SPF, Swimsuits, and a Slightly Overpacked Bag
For the beach, the pool, and wherever we end up after.
There’s something oddly satisfying about packing for a beach trip—probably because the formula is simple. A few good swimsuits, something linen, SPF that doesn’t feel like a chore, and sandals that can handle sand and dinner.
When I’m on vacation, the last thing I want to do is think about what to wear. Having swim that can be mixed and matched with coverups is my goal.
Here’s what actually made it into my (slightly overpacked) for our beach vacation with Austin’s fam.
Let’s get into it.
.01 Black One Piece Swimsuit
This swimsuit has the most flattering and supportive cut (size up). Think bodysuit material. I love it styled with this pareo.
.02 Bronze Body Highlighter
If you spray tan — this is the body highlighter you need. I have been testing it out and it dries down completely—no residue, no transfer. It’s oil-free and fragrance-free, which helps your tan last longer. It is shimmer-heavy, so I’d keep it to body only (not for the face).
.03 Glossy Flip Flips
I have these sandals and brought them on my trip. They are great quality and feel like an elevated pool flop. Can be styled with everyday clothes, too.
.04 Bucket Hat
This bucket hat (under $300) is worth the price— I have traveled with this so many times and it doesn’t lose its shape. It definitely comes with me anytime i’m in the sun for a long period of time.
.05 Patterned Pareo
From beachy dinners to cocktail hour, this pareo is lightweight, breathable, and made with 100% cotton. Easy to throw on and go.
.06 Pink Swimsuit
This pop of color is fun. The sizing is a bit tricky — I sized up but it was a little large in the chest. I wore it with this sarong coverup (small) yesterday at the beach club.
.07 Coverup Dress
If you grab one thing from this roundup, make it this linen cover-up dress from Nordstrom. It’s under $100, has a flattering plunge neckline and adjustable drawstring sides, and it easily goes from pool to lunch without feeling like you tried too hard. I took a small.
.08 White Cover-up Shirt
This long button-down gives you coverage without looking like you’re trying to hide. The oversized fit runs big (I could’ve gone XS), but it works—easy, beachy, and intentionally relaxed. Wear it on its own or pair it with the drawstring shorts for a look that reads considered, not coordinated.
.09 Drawstring Shorts
These were made to pair with the button-down. The longer length gives you a bit more coverage—ideal if you want your cover-up to actually cover
.10 Bikini Top
Such a good basic swim top. It goes with everything and comes in several other colors. Simple, classic, no notes.
.11 High-Waisted Bikini Bottoms
I will only wear a bikini if it’s high-waisted. These bikini bottoms hug you in all the right places.
.12 Sunglasses
Sunglasses are an easy way to elevate even the simplest look. This pair leans pricier, but they’re worth it—I love this brand.
Thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post. All opinions and selections are my own!
